Chap.9

I heard laughing.....I woke up and my door was open. Huh. I don't remember opening it? I looked down the stairs to see that Carol women with my dad laughing. Ew she's here again. I walked back to my room and slammed the door. I heard tapping and turned to my window to see Nick again. Finally someone to talk to. I opened my window and looked at Nick who kept looking at me, searching for something. I asked,"What is it? Is my hair messed up?" He laughed and said,"No, you looked frustrated and I was just-" He stopped mid-sentence and kept staring at me. I stared back at him then felt something prance into my arms seeing a black cat in my arms. Nick laughed and said,"Sorry it's my moms. She wants me to take it for a walk. Want to come with?" I nodded and said,"Sure well what's it's name?" I patted the cats head and it rumbled. He said,"Her name is Victoria." He made a whistle sound and Victoria leaped out of my arms into Nick's. I heard a knock then I said,"You better get down before my dad grabs his gun." Nick nodded then jumped down and cursed. I looked down to see him on his butt, I laughed then closed the window. I turned and said,"Come in!" Carol walked in, oh great. She smiled and said,"Hey, my father said to check on you. He heard some slamming and wanted me to check on you." I said almost icily,"I am okay thanks for checking." She looked at me as if I didn't sound mean and said,"Well breakfast is downstairs if you want some." She walked out of my room and slammed the door. Ugh I hate this.





I walked downstairs still wearing my pajamas to see Carol talking with my dad in the living room again. They were watching the news, great some crappy news and Carol. What next? Barney? I turned on my ipod putting it on loud, Timbaland just came on. I walked over to the kitchen and grabbed breakfast then looked over to see my dad still talking to Carol. I sighed in frustration then just went outside the backyard to eat, I sat down on the backyard's porch swing swinging while eating. I felt something push and I turned to see Marie pushing it sadly. I asked,"What's wrong?" She looked at me then smiled half-heartedly and sat down next to me. She said,"I really miss my daughter. You don't know how it feels to lose something you loved dearly to never see them again." I sighed and said,"Actually I do. My mom died a few years ago and I still miss her." She said,"Oh is that why you despise that Carol lady?" I nodded in a way that made Marie laugh. She said,"Well, you should at least give her a try." I shrugged and said,"Maybe I guess. I don't know I just...don't like how dad is betraying mom so much." Marie put her hand on my shoulder and said,"Your mom wants best for you and your dad. To be happy, she doesn't want you guys to be sad. She wants you to move on. I know it's hard to make an adult decision but you have to let her go." Marie faded and I sat there thinking while feeling tears coming on. When all the tears were gone, I walked into the house to still see them talking. I sighed and kept thinking, mom only wants whats best, mom only wants whats best. Oh who am I kidding? I can't do this! I just looked straight without looking and walked up the stairs. I heard my dad yelling and took off my headphones to see they were still on. Suprisingly, they were playing Tonight Alive - Wasting Away which I enjoyed a lot. My dad sighed and asked,"You researching again?" I nodded and he said,"Oh okay. Me and Carol are gonna take a stroll around the town and don't wait up." I said,"Oh okay bye." I ran upstairs and changed then came back down hearing the sound of a car beeping. I looked up to see Nick's car waiting in the front, I ran out and went to his car.



He said,"Hey what's up?" I said,"Nothing much but Ms. Barbie at my house again. Anyways, did you pick up any new information?" Nick said,"No and the library is closed so...where do we go?" I said,"Maybe we'll sneak into my basement since theres boxes everywhere probably filled with information we might need." He said,"Good idea so how do we sneak into your basement?" I said,"Follow me." I climb out and Nick follows, we go into the forest and I trip on something. I look up from the ground to see a dead body and scream. Nick ran to me and gasped. I said,"Call the police now!" He started dialing on his phone and I search the body to find something in his hand...paper. The paper said,"Thanks for doing the favor now here's the price. -RP" Oh.My.God. RP killed this man who had a grocery store name tag that said,"Harry" This is Harry the one that hid Annabelle's and Marie's bodies! We lost our only witness! Nick said,"Okay the police are coming - Lea what's wrong?" I turned to him and said,"We lost our only witness." He asked,"What do you mean?" I yelled,"This guy! Harry was our only damn witness to where Annabelle's and Marie's bodies were!" Nick looked at me scared and also frustrated then police sirens rang in the air. They found us and wrapped up Harry's body.

A few hours later....

"Harry died from stabbing. As you can see there is stabs on his back and chest.", the forensic officer said. I said,"Thanks officer." I walked towards Nick and said,"It's over we lost our only witness." Nick said,"Don't worry we'll figure something out." I yelled,"It's over! I don't even know why we started! We can't solve this with Harry dead! Let's face it Nick! We can't solve this!" I started to walk away then Nick said,"Maybe you think that but really we can search forever and still crack an answer sooner or later Lea." I stopped and rethought. Maybe he's right. I walked towards him and said,"I'm sorry maybe you're right. Here's the plan, we are gonna search downstairs for more information and go to the library to search up Harry's history." Nick smiled and said,"That's the Lea I remember." We both laughed and said our goodbyes. We can do this. I know so and hope so.
